nudity 3/10 In a home movie filmed by his wife, a husband pulls up his sweatshirt and says the house is hot (we see his abdomen briefly, and his legs below boxers); another couple watching the film suggests that sex occurred after the filming. A woman has a boyfriend in her house quite often, always fully clothed and one of her young daughters tells the ex-husband, "Brett does things for Mom you could never do," suggesting sex. A pre-teen dance troupe performs briefly with rolling hips and slightly suggestive gestures. A magazine picture shows the bare chest, shoulders and arms of a model. A 10-year-old girl is shown wearing nightgowns that reveal most of her bare legs in several scenes; in one scene, her nightgown is pulled up to her panties, which we see (no public hair is revealed. Two young girls wearing tank tops and short shorts lie on a bed. A man asks his ex-wife if another man is moving into the house and she denies this. A young girl continually asks her divorced parents to remarry and they refuse. A man and a woman embrace briefly.
violence 8/10 A girl looks in the mirror after gagging repeatedly. She uses a torch and shines it into her mouth, and two fingers can be seen creeping up her throat. A woman is seen shaking, with one side of her face drooping. She falls to the floor, writhing and twitching. Several clicks from bones and tissue can be heard, before she is thrown around the room violently. Her face is then smashed through a glass table, and she lands on the floor. A teen watches her sister writhe on the floor, and then a large moth flies out of the girl's mouth. A man's teeth are ripped out painfully by an unseen force- a large deal of blood is shown. A woman's eyes begin to bleed mysteriously, and in a series of quick flashes she's shown to be thrown violently around a room, at one point hitting a window and smashing the glass, falling to the floor. The woman is later mentioned as dead. A man has a demon's hand come out of his mouth and push against his face. There is a lot of strobe flashing in the scene, but briefly a demon can be seen climbing from the man and slithering along the floor. A car is seen driving along a road when a large lorry smashes into it. The crash itself is not shown, but the wreckage is later seen and the driver can just be made out, bleeding from his head upside down. A girl gags painfully, and her eyes droop very frighteningly. A girl punches a boy whilst she screams at him. The punches can't be seen, but the painful sound can be heard and the motion is witnessed from behind. A girl throws glass at a woman, and the woman steps on it. The girl wields a large shard of glass, the intention to stab the woman. However, she is pulled from her trance and drops the shard to the floor. Under its power, a woman suffers a horrible seizure: Her face sags and her eyeballs roll back before she begins thrashing about her living roomfinally arching her back until it cracks and then sending her face crashing through a coffee table. Another woman, bleeding from her eyes, is thrown around a classroomsmacking walls and desks before she's hurled by invisible hands through a closed window. (She presumably falls to her death.) The dibbuk nearly strangles someone, almost kills someone else with a glass shard and hits several folks with frightful fury. We see the creature's fingers in Emily's throat and later see it claw its way out of someone's body through the mouth. A man pulls out all his teeth, leaving his mouth a bloody, gaping maw. A woman pulls a clump of her own hair out. A man covered in bandages screams when he sees the box. When Emily, under the influence of the dibbuk, says some nasty things to her father, something strikes her in the face twice. It's not Clyde, but Em thinks it is, and she screams in fear and horror. "My dad doesn't like me anymore," she confesses heartbreakingly to her beloved box. Hannah, who sees part of the episode from behind, believes her dad is beating Em as well. Emily stabs her father's hand with a fork. Stephanie, barefoot, walks across a floor covered in broken glass. Brett later plucks pieces of glass from her feet. A semi plows into a car, leaving a trail of wreckage.
profanity 3/10 1 scatological term, 1 anatomical term, 5 mild obscenities, 1 religious profanity, 10 religious exclamations Name-calling (stupid, weird, irresponsible, creepy and unstable.) Stereotypical references to men, women, children, dentists, Hassidic rabbis, divorced parents, religions, demons and exorcisms.
alcohol 1/10 A father drinks from a bottle of beer at the dinner table with his two young daughters. A woman drinks two glasses of wine and pours a third and her boyfriend mentions that she should save some of the wine for dinner.
frightening 9/10 There's plenty of scary stuff and creepy special effects -- screaming, eyes rolling back in heads, etc. -- though relatively little gore. Two minor characters are beaten up by invisible forces, but a lot of the more brutal stuff happens off screen. A few trickles of blood are seen coming from eyes and mouths. There are a good amount of jump scares. There is only one death which is offscreen. The tone is quite frightening. The girl has some scenes that may disturb. Although it's alright 12+ should be good. Overall: 23/50
