A reporter in Iraq might just have the story of a lifetime when he meets Lyn Cassady, a guy who claims to be a former member of the U.S. Army's New Earth Army, a unit that employs paranormal powers in their missions.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity Brief shirtless men. There are a couple brief scenes of "Naked Hot Tub Encounter Sessions" where female breasts are visible. A man is implied to hang weights from his genitals.
violence The war violence in the film is mostly bloodless and rather comical. Bill's new age beliefs apparently came from a vision after being shot in Vietnam (he falls to the ground, his wound bleeds slowly and he hallucinates). A group of criminals get into a gunfight (no blood). As Lynn and Bob escape, they accidentally graze an innocent hostage with their car (he has a bloody open cut on his forehead). As Lynn, Bob, and the rescued hostage head toward more populated area's, an inept security team mistakes people holding gasoline cartons while riding a motorcycle as terrorists, and they end up accidentally firing on another security team in the process, starting a gunfight, with at least one guard getting hit. Experiments are carried out on goats, with men staring at them so long that they fall to the ground and die. POW's are tortured by being forced to watch Barney in a small cell. A soldier is given LSD as an experiment in what could possibly be mind control. The man seems to be having a bad trip, and you then see him walking around the army base naked (bare buttocks from a distance), firing into the air, before shooting himself (off-screen).
profanity About 17 f-words and half that many s-words are the leaders. The use of strong language isn't constant, mostly used in specific scenes during the second half.
alcohol In at least 2 scenes, LSD use is clearly implicated. In the first one, Larry uses a vial to experiment on the soldier, ultimately giving the guinea pig a bad trip. In the second one, hundreds of soldiers are drugged with it, via their powdered eggs and water supply. Bill mentions having built up a large tolerance towards narcotics. A Russian scientist is seen holding what might possibly be a joint as they experiment on animals. It's mentioned that Bill has become an alcoholic, he seems rather depressed, and you see a bottle of hard liquor in the background. People smoke cigarettes, and in flashbacks, have packs tied to their helmets. Alcohol is consumed socially, in addition to the themes mentioned above revolving around alcoholism. Lynn uses steroids to help treat his cancer, but you only see him injecting in one instance.
frightening Man kills himself (offscreen) A man is kept in a small room with flashing lights and tortured by listening to the Barney theme song again and again without stopping. The way the camera lingers on it can be disturbing for a moment.
