Rick, a down-and-out American boxer, is hired to transport a sword to Japan, unaware that the whole thing is a set up in a bitter blood-feud between two brothers, one who follows the traditional path of the samurai and the other a businessman. At the behest of the businessman, Rick undertakes samurai training from the other brother, but joins his cause. He also becomes romantically involved with the samurai's daughter.

violence The violence in this film is predominantly moderate action/martial arts violence with occasional scenes of *Graphic Violence. Some of these depictions may be considered SPOILERS SPOILERS A young boy is slashed on the back with a samurai sword - only the aftermath of the bloody gash is shown briefly and repeated later on in the film - the actual slashing occurs off screen. There are some boxing scenes near the start of the film and are not too intense. Humour is interjected between the sparing partners who are training. A man is kidnapped and bullied in a threatening manner in an extended sequence with some physical bullying involved ie) pushing and shoveing. At one stage he has his assailant put heavy pressure over one of his eye sockets causing him some pain. A man in a wheelchair is intimidated and has the back of his neck behind his ear slashed; his face also. We see some blood but mostly hear his pain - this is a torture sequence. A man is stabbed in the hand with some sharp object. The man in the wheelchair is pushed out of the back of a moving van and falls onto the road and over a bridge to his death. A man is stabbed in the back of his leg or maybe his buttock after being chased. He is seen hobbling around from the wound - there are bloodstains seen on his clothes. A man is stabbed in the back - we only see blood pour out of his mouth and the bloody blade held by his attacker. There are some mild scenes of martial arts training with the opponents kicking and beating each other. There is some gun violence in the film. Some brief shots of bullets impacting with blood. Mostly just noise and fast action involving these weapons. There are some ninja stars hurled at people with impact - no blood shown. A young boy is hit on the head with the hilt of sword causing a bloody gash on his forhead - he is seen lying in a pool of blood around his cranium - he is still alive. Several men are shot with large arrows. Several men are slashed with swords - quick shots not much blood. There is an intense sword fight between two men, going for broke slashing each other leaving bloody gashes on their bodies. *Most of the Graphic Violence appears towards the end of the film: A man is slashed in his abdomen with a sword and we briefly see his intestines. A man is decapitated with a sword and we see his severed head roll on the floor. A man has a staple put in his forehead and is electrocuted by a cut electrical cable and sword. A man has his head split down the middle with a sword.
profanity Several 'F' words are used; mostly in an aggresive manner and other milder expletives scatted throughout
alcohol No overt drug or alcohol content but a man does get very drunk on saki. The scene is played for humour with him ending up having to run out of the room and throw up.
frightening Some of the scenes depicted in Violence & Gore section may be considered intense. A few chase scenes. The main character is put through an endurance test where he's buried in the ground from the neck down for 5 days. He has a nightmarish vision of his mentor. There are a couple of scenes where children are the recipients of brutal violence. Due to the frequent violent action and nature of some of the violence; this film would not really be suitable for persons under 14 years of age.
