Movie Parental Guide

nudity This film includes shots of young womens' underwear as the women are swung around or into the air in the various swing dance scenes. Early in the movie, the main characters look at a naked woman's photo. There are a few impersonal comments about young women scattered throughout the movie, indicating the young males' desire to sleep with them without commitment. The teen discuss hiring a woman in the red light district but do not do so as that costs money.
violence There are various fist fights between the main characters and the Nazis throughout the movie. Early in the movie a Nazi official hits a woman. Later on, a disabled young man is beaten up by Nazis.
profanity There are a few swear words - the f word and a few others (including the "s" word in German). Derogatory comments are made about Jews, blacks, the disabled. However, it is clear in the story line that these ideas are part of the bad ideas of the Nazis.
alcohol There is sharing of some wine at a family dinner, but it is not to excess. Drugs are not featured. Alcohol is featured, but is not emphasized at the dance.
frightening The fistfights between Nazis and the main characters (and other people) are particularly intense near the end of the movie. It would become clearer to a young child through many scenes where the Nazis arrested, beat up, or even killed people, that the Nazis can torment, imprison, even kill everyone, and thus the big fight scene near the end of the movie is somewhat more scary. Later in the movie, a man is murdered, a main character is seen dead (after he commits suicide in his bathtub) with a puddle of blood near him, and a person opens a box which holds the cremated ashes of a person murdered by the Nazis. However, the level of violence does not approach full battle scenes, and is not sustained long in a scene.
