When the nefarious Dark Helmet hatches a plan to snatch Princess Vespa and steal her planet's air, space-bum-for-hire Lone Starr and his clueless sidekick fly to the rescue. Along the way, they meet Yogurt, who puts Lone Starr wise to the power of "The Schwartz." Can he master it in time to save the day?

Movie Parental Guide

nudity Lots of dialog and actions related to sexual innuendos. Brief scene of man puting his face into a woman's breasts (no nudity, only cleavage visible). A character's tail goes up woman's dress just after he commented on another woman's breasts. Scene of male character "fooling around" under the covers in bed with two women. When the giant vacuum of "Megamaid" sucks air from Planet Druidia, three characters repeat "suck, suck, SUCK" with sexual reference clearly intended. When "Megamaid" blows the air back onto the planet, Colonel Sandurz says, "she's gone from suck to blow."
violence In one scene, a laser blast from Dark Helmet's ring effectively castrates a man (in a parody of the "Darth Vader force choking" scenes from Star Wars). During a "lightsaber" fight, a man is shown to have an obviously fake wound as he falls from a camera gantry. Also, Dark Helmet near uses the force on an intern's crotch. (Made for laughs) Some minor violence with laser guns. Many people are shot. No blood, gore, or bullet wounds are seen as it is done in a comical manner. All of the violence is play for laughs.
profanity This movie has an astounding amount of profanity for a PG-rated film (of course, remember that the standards for a PG film were different in the '80s). One scene is an extended gag, where many of the bridge crew on Spaceball One share the surname "Asshole" and it is repeated 10 or more times throughout the sequence. One use of the word "f--k" in a non-sexual context. Instances of "shit," "damn," "bullshit" and other profanities pepper the film. Some minor name calling.
alcohol Dark Helmet tells his men in one scene "Smoke if you got 'em". One of the "stunt doubles" smokes a cigar.
frightening Nothing too major. The appearance of Pizza the Hutt has the potential to be frightening. In the diner at the end, part of a scene revolves around a parody of Alien, where an alien bursts out of a man's chest after he falls to the floor. There is no blood, although some bodily fluids are seen on the man's shirt as he passes out (and we assume dies.) The alien is very fake looking and the scene is not meant to be scary. It is tempered somewhat by the almost immediate launch into a parody of Chuck Jones' "One Froggy Night", as the alien, suddenly wearing a top hat and cane, starts to sing and dance through the diner. Parents should think of this film as a PG-13
