Oliver is born into poverty and misfortune - the son of an unmarried mother, who dies shortly after his birth. He is soon delivered to the workhouse, where the cruel Mr. Bumble oversees children tormented by starvation and suffering. When Oliver dares to ask for more gruel, he finds himself cast out and forced to make his own way in the world...

We see him in another scene with a black eye and a cut over his eyebrow. (he was punished for eating during work) Charlotte holds Oliver down while Noah farts in his face. |
| frightening | The adults in the factory treat the children who work there extremely badly. Abusing them both physically and verbally: (ex. "Your neck was made for the noose.") Noah Sowerberry scares Oliver late at night pretending, and intimidates Oliver. Oliver attacks Noah after Noah insults Oliver's mother. Throwing a tantrum, Charlotte and Mrs. Sowerberry place Oliver in a coffin and cover and sit on the coffin so that Oliver is trapped. |
