n German-occupied France, young Jewish refugee Shosanna Dreyfus witnesses the slaughter of her family by Colonel Hans Landa. Narrowly escaping with her life, she plots her revenge several years later when German war hero Fredrick Zoller takes a rapid interest in her and arranges an illustrious movie premiere at the theater she now runs. With the promise of every major Nazi officer in attendance, the event catches the attention of the "Basterds", a group of Jewish-American guerrilla soldiers led by the ruthless Lt. Aldo Raine. As the relentless executioners advance and the conspiring young girl's plans are set in motion, their paths will cross for a fateful evening that will shake the very annals of history.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity Contains moderate sex In one scene a man is seen thrusting behind a woman for about 2 seconds in a sort of a flashback. No nudity but moaning can be heard and so can a "clapping" sound. Some references
violence Contains strong bloody violence People are shot off screen. Several dead men are scalped by other men wielding large knives. Although these images are very short, they are graphic and one of the most disturbing scenes. A man beats a Nazi to death with a baseball bat until his head explodes. Although we see this from a distance it is very graphic. There is a brief scene where a man is shown being whipped. His back is bloody. In an earlier flashback, the same man is seen murdering Nazis. Graphic. A shootout occurs in a bar. Many people die in this scene. Bloody and intense. A character strangles another character to death. Very graphic. A woman is shot in the leg, but survives. However, she is later tortured by another man inserting his finger into the bloody bullet hole on her leg. Very graphic. Dozens of people are trapped in a burning building and die from burning and being shot at close range. A man is shot multiple times in the face until his face literally begins to shred apart. Very graphic but somehow unrealistic. A man cuts a deep swastika into the forehead of a man, who screams in agony. Very graphic and the most disturbing scene. In another scene a woman shoots a guy in the back several times. the man then shoots her in the chest several times. Both end up being dead with bloody holes in their body and blood on the floor. Bloody and disturbing scene. This film is less violent than other Tarantino films like Pulp Fiction, Kill Bill and Django Unchained. Strong, brutal, bloody violence throughought, including both war violence (gunfights, shootings, and more) and brutal close-quarters encounters (deliberate mutilation with knives, throat-slashings, scalping). A man is beaten to death with a baseball bat on camera. A woman is shot at point-blank range. A German officer is shown being obliterated by machine-gun fire, bullets pulverizing his body and face into a bloody mass. A man drives his finger into a woman's bullet wound to elicit cooperation and information. Soldiers and civilians are machine-gunned; others die in a house-fire.

alcohol Contains frequent smoking and alcohol consumption - Drinking and smoking throughout. Tobacco use indicates the time period. - A man inhales tobacco.
frightening Contains strong threat and gore Hitler is shot in a comedic way in the film, which may be intense for some viewers. Many graphic scenes, but nothing the viewers (who aren't fainthearted) can take seriously within the context of the film. There is a lot of bloody, battle violence. Colonel Landa may be funny or frightening for some, depending on the viewer. The atitudes taken by the Basterds (like scalping or the swastika in the forehead) are intense and horrible, graphic but in a tone of comedy. Contains strong bloody violence.
