Movie Parental Guide

nudity 9/10 The film is laced with extremely sexually explicit dialogue about sexual fantasies, masturbation, rape and paedophilia. Some of this dialogue is between a father and son. However, actual sex and nudity is kept brief or just implied. A brief sex scene occurs between a man and a woman; her breasts are shown, and his buttocks. Two characters masturbate (not explicitly seen) and then their ejaculate is shown on another surface after they have finished. One of the masturbaters is sexually harassing a woman on the phone while he masturbates. Two silhouetted figures are briefly shown having sex. A man explicitly describes a sexual fantasy with extreme candour. Two clothed people have sex on a couch; the man is shown putting his hand into the woman's shirt and groping her breast. A man masturbates to pictures of young boys in the back seat of a car. A father admits to his son that he would masturbate to avoid having sex with him. It's implied that a man rapes two of his son's friends. He later admits this to his son. A young boy asks his father what "cum" means. His father tells him in a very straight forward answer. The boy says that everyone in his class has cum, but he hasn't. The son and father discuss this several times during the movie, including his dad asking if he's "practiced". A father and son frankly and openly discuss penis size. A boy is standing on a outside balconies with the family dog masturbating while watching a woman sunbathing, after a few seconds he ejaculates, the family dog then happily licks up the seamen from the railing and flour below (the boy lets him) and then walks in to the apartment and licks the mouth and face of the boys mother.
violence 6/10 A character goes through a park and shoots several people at random. When this is over, it is revealed to be a dream. A character commits suicide off-screen by suffocation; his corpse is briefly shown. A man drugs a little boy in order to rape him. Later in the film, we see the man driving to the house of another boy, apparently to rape him. Neither of the rapes is shown. A woman is raped in her apartment. They are shown in the lead-up and aftermath as clothed. After the rape, she kills him by breaking his neck. The woman tells this scene in flash-back, and a darkly comical edge offsets its potentially disturbing nature. A woman is pelted with vegetables by a crowd of protesters as she enters a building. A woman spits on a woman and drags her to the floor by her hair. A woman is shown with a black eye and bloody lip. It is implied to be from domestic abuse.
profanity 9/10 Very explicit and detailed sexual dialog, some relating to paedophilia and rape. "Fuck" is used twenty times. "Shit" used five times. "Cunt" is used once.
alcohol 6/10 A few characters drink alcohol and smoke cigarettes in some scenes. A man drugs his son's friends in order to rape him.
frightening 9/10 The theme of pedophilia is very disturbing, the scene involving the father talking to his son about disturbing sexual things (including how he raped two children) is intense to sit through. Several of the characters in the film have sexual or social dysfunctions, which leads them to behavior that most people would find disturbing, for example making obscene phone calls, masturbating to teenagers' magazines, rape, murder, and suicide. Most of the suspense in the film lies in its complete emotional bleakness. 39/50 17+
