Movie Parental Guide

nudity 5/10 Although tame for today's standards, the movie contained an exorbitant amount of sexual content for the early sixties. Most of the female characters wear tight and revealing clothing. A woman is shown in a bathtub. Nothing is shown except her nude upper back. Bond and a female character kiss while lying on a bed. Bond is shirt-less and the woman wearing a man's shirt, most likely. After being knocked out himself Bond finds Jill Masterson dead and laying face down on a bed. She is totally nude except for the full coat of gold paint she is wearing, which caused her death by "skin suffocation". From a distance, we see her fully nude body laying face down on a bed, with only a carefully placed chair pillow blocking her buttocks from our view. As Bond draws closer and calls Felix on the telephone, he, (and we) view her legs and feet from the upper thigh downward, coated in gold paint. Bond and a female character kiss while lying on a bed of straw. Plenty of sexual double-entendre. However, because of the lack of consent, this has been perceived by modern viewers as rape.
violence 6/10 Characters are killed by poisonous gas, ejected out of cars. A man with a metal-rimmed bowler hat throws it, striking a woman on her throat, breaking her neck. You can hear the snap as her neck breaks, but it sounds rather unrealistic. Some men fall a short distance to their deaths. Not graphic. A man is shown to be either trapped or crushed between a vault door and a metal railing. No graphic detail, and the image is brief. A car crashes into a tree (mild, everyone in the car is fine afterwards). Another car crashes at high speed into a wall. The wall breaks , and the driver is okay afterwards. Two men are electrocuted: one in a bath and another against metal bars. We only see some sparks and smoke. Not graphic. A man is shot at close range in a car (no graphic detail). He is then driven to a wrecking yard, where the car is crushed into a cube (the man's body is not seen after he is shot and there is no blood). Shootouts, fistfights, and explosions with some deaths. During shootouts, no graphic detail is shown. When Goldfinger's forces execute their plan on Fort Knox, it appears all the soldiers were killed. In reality, they were playing dead in order to lure the villains into a trap and once achieved, they all get up and attack the invaders. A gunshot causes an explosive decompression on board an airplane and a person is blown out one of the windows
profanity 1/10 One use of "hell" and one use of "damn."
alcohol 3/10 Bond only smokes one cigarette in the opening scene. There's also one scene where M and another man smoke a cigar. Some background smoking in a bar and on a meeting of the villains. Bond orders a Vodka Martini shaken, not stirred and gets champagne out of a freezer.
frightening 6/10 Bond is threatened with being sliced in half by a laser. The scene is very suspenseful. A man carries a metal rimmed hat that can break necks when thrown at people. A woman is found dead, having been covered in gold paint. Bond is tied to an atomic bomb with a timer, counting down. He manages to get free and tries to stop the bomb, before an American agent comes and stops the timer. 22/50 - this is okay for 11-14 year old people (12/13+) If rated by today's MPAA it would probably be Rated PG-13 for Sequences of Intense Action Violence, some Sensuality and Innuendos
