nudity Rated R for Strong Gang Violence, Pervasive Language, and Sexuality/Nudity. A scene is shown where Sean Penn has sex with a woman he recently met. Her breasts are visible and thrusting is shown. Another scene shows a woman taken outside of a home by police. A couple dozen men are there and one woman. The one woman is completely naked including bare feet and is shown for about 15 seconds before taken to police car. Breasts and pubic hair seen. All 2 dozen men are completely clothed including coats. Yet another scene shows two people having sex in a house. The woman is moaning loudly and her breasts are shown as well as backside nudity of the man. One of the main characters' girlfriend is implied that she had sexual intercourse with someone else.
violence The theme of this film is street gangs in a major fued. Very graphic violence is showcased in the film, such as frequent shootings, in which blood is drawn, as well as a fist fight between a officer and a gang member and a kid getting beat up as part of a gang initiation. There are some moments of police brutality. There is also a drive-by shooting occuring at a church, but no one is injured. That scene leads to a chase scene involving the cops and a few gang members that ends with the gang-members' vehicle crashing and exploding.
