Movie Parental Guide

nudity A man accompanies woman home and they engage in intercourse. Very little is actually shown, most is implied. Burlesque style sexual choreography in songs. Most of the songs have burlesque (raunchy) lyrics, but these are non-explicit. Costumes true to the genre are risqué. A woman is seen in the background changing with no shirt on. Her bare back is shown but no nudity. It is implied that she bribed a man through this.
violence -A man ran into a woman's knife. He ran into her knife ten times. (This is not an episode shown but the lyrics of a song.) -A man and woman struggle. he hits and pushes her. After she falls to the floor she reaches for a gun and shoots him three times. We see a flash bulb image of the victim with blood on his shirt and mouth. -A woman shoots a man and two women in a bedroom, the camera cuts away with every shot, but we later see the dead bodies with very little blood. -Six different women talk about how they murdered their husbands and boyfriends. These include stabbings, shootings, and a poisoning. A woman sings in Hungarian (without subtitles) about a beheading. These are non-explicit descriptions but are acted out by the women. -A woman hides a gun and washes some blood off of her hands. -A person walks to a gallows to be executed by hanging. the rope is put around the neck. We see the trap door opens and the person falls; then we see the body from the chest down swinging at the end of the rope. -A woman shoots a man; we do not see the actual shooting but see the aftermath with him lying on stairs with blood dripping from his head.
profanity The word shit, ass, goddamn, damn are used several times as are terms like floozy, whore, slut. Some moderate to strong sexual references scattered throughout.
alcohol -Many characters smoke and drink, (sometimes to excess), just as one might expect in a movie set in the nightclub scene of the 1920s. -Drugs are mentioned a couple of times.
frightening The first murder and the execution can be intense and disturbing.
