nudity 0:02:10-23 A young girl's naked upper body is shown while in a bath. 0:10:24 A wife kisses her husband's back. 0:11:05-15 A married couple kiss passionately. 0:11:30+ A husband and wife are shown in bed. It is implied they had sex, but it is not shown and there is no visible nudity. A woman, believing her husband is dead, kisses her husband's brother. Her husband later starts falsely believing that the two had sex. This is one of the main themes of the film. A man is shown in his underwear and other men tease him. This scene is for comic relief.
violence The violence in this film is brief, and most of it happens off-screen, but all of it is very disturbing. A man is shot in the head. It happens on-screen, but no blood is shown. Other people are shot and killed in a later scene, but it's brief and not at all graphic or bloody. A man is forced to beat his childhood friend to death with a metal pipe. Most of it happens off-screen and no blood is shown, but it's very disturbing, emotional, and hard to watch. Some very brief scenes of torture, mostly off-screen. A helicopter is shot down and explodes; this is shown from inside the helicopter, and it happens very unexpectedly. It is implied that most of the passengers are killed, but at least two of them are later shown to have survived. These two are taken hostage by a group of terrorists Near the end of the film, a man furiously destroys a kitchen, smashing dishes and cabinets with a crowbar, ripping things apart, and throwing things, swearing and screaming at his wife at the top of his lungs as he does so. He later holds a gun against his brother's head and shoots the gun into the air when the police arrive, inviting the police officers to kill him. He then holds the gun against his own head. No one is harmed, but this entire scene is VERY intense and frightening. A character is shown to have a very tense relationship with his father; the latter harshly berates the former several times. However, they seem to reconcile with one another in one scene. Lots of yelling between family members.
profanity Language is not too frequent, but it's very strong. There are 46 uses of "fuck" and 6 uses of "shit" throughout, as well as some sexual references. There is also a brief middle finger gesture, but it may go unnoticed.
alcohol One character occasionally smokes cigarettes. He shares a cigarette with another character in one scene. Some drinking of alcohol. One character is shown drunk. A man and a woman share a joint (marijuana cigarette).
frightening This film is very emotional and tense throughout. A man appears quite thin after returning home. One character becomes very troubled and mentally unstable in the second half of the film, and starts distancing himself from his wife, daughters, and brother. The resulting atmosphere can be disturbing and unsettling for some. The scene where the main character is forced to beat another man to death with a pipe is very disturbing and difficult to watch. Also, the part near the end of the film where a character destroys his kitchen in a fit of rage, threatens to kill his brother, and almost commits suicide is extremely intense and disturbing. Younger audience members may be frightened to the point of crying.
