Movie Parental Guide

nudity 1/10 A brief passing reference to prostitutes and some other possible references At least one kissing scene. Possible Present Day MPAA Rating: R for sequences of violence (despite what some may have you believe, the rating is appropriate given the amount of bloodshed)
violence 7/10 Numerous people are shot, the shootings are rather graphic with bullet wounds and blood visible. Several instances of threatening with guns. A lot of gunfire, hand-to-hand combat (resulting in broken necks), and bloody bullet wound casualties. Airborne explosions and warcraft dogfighting. Many people are shot by machine gun fire and killed; some have blood on them and sometimes their bodies jerk with the bullets (the blood is found on all body parts and it looks quite thick and red). We see corpses lying in blood and blood on walls, carpets, etc., bloody bandages (arms, head, chest). Some people spend most of the film with blood on them and bruises and scratches (there are several close-ups). A few times people are shot point-blank in the head. Some explosions (including a couple of plane crashes). Some extended fights with punches and kicks. A man is choked by a cord as he's pushed out of a plane; we see his corpse dangling. Other people fall out of a plane and to their death. A man walks into a room and shoots a man in the head (blood is seen on the wall behind him, not graphic) and shoots another man in the side (blood pours out of the wound, not graphic though probably the bloodiest part of the film). A group of 6 Russian men take over an airplane and shoot a lot of innocent people including other U.S. Secret Service Agents and military personnel, some blood is visible. A man enters the cockpit shoots one pilot in the head and shoots the other man in the shoulder (blood pours out, not graphic). A lot of other people are shot with some blood spray visible. A man shoots a hostage in the head (a blood bullet impact is seen for a brief second, not graphic). Also, a character's hands are tied and another man beats him. Two men struggle in a vicious fight and trade blows back and forth. A man tries to strangle another man by choking him ion a parachute chord. In the end, a man's neck is snapped and he is killed (a crack can be heard but it is not graphic). A man takes a gun to the woman's head and later we hear a gunshot over a loudspeaker inside the plane. General mayhem including explosions and people falling out of planes A prisoner is shot repeatedly. Some blood spray and bullet wounds but seen at night and from far away angles; not graphic.
profanity 7/10 The s-word a few times, the f-word once, and "son of a bitch." 5 "goddamns" 3 "hell" 1 "ass" 4 "dick" 2 "bitch" 2 "shit" 1 usage of "bastard" 1 "fuck" used by Gary Oldman's character near the end of the movie
alcohol A few people smoke. Some social drinking. People hold beers and alcoholic drinks, but none is consumed.
frightening 6/10 From the hijacking to the end of the movie is intense and the hijackers (Gary Oldman in particular) can be very frightening. The frightening/intense moments are more than likely the reason for the R-rating. When the hostages are executed it is very emotional and upsetting. The brutal deaths of the terrorists and the gunfight can be brutal and unsettling ad when Korshunov's neck is snapped can also be unsettling. The whole movie is rather suspenseful and dark, with Marshall and Korshunov playing the cat and mouse game.
