nudity 8/10 During a dream sequence, we see a nude woman tied to a bed (bare breasts and abdomen are visible) while other nude men and women surround her (it is dark so we see mostly their silhouettes, but bare breasts are visible from a distance on some women). A beastly, demonic-looking creature approaches the women and begins to rape her: he caresses her body, we see him thrusting on top of her, she appears uncomfortable and the scene ends. We see a woman's bare breasts and buttocks during a dream sequence. A woman suggests to a man that they have sex; they remove their clothing, though no full nudity is shown. The two kiss passionately. A man and a woman lie on a bed while kissing and stop when they hear a noise. No nudity. A woman wakes up (her back is visible with multiple deep scratches) and her husband admits to raping her while she slept. A man and a woman kiss passionately in many scenes. A man removes a woman's clothes and we see her in a lace bra and panties. Paintings depicted nude men are shown on the ceiling of the Sistine Chapel. A woman explains how she thought an older couple wanted to use her for sex trafficking but soon found out she was mistaken.
violence 4/10 We see a woman's dead body lying on the ground after she commits suicide; there is a numerous amount of blood on her face, the ground, and a nearby car. We see this image only once again. The heroine is tied down to a bed and impregnated by the devil incarnate, but because she thinks she's dreaming, she doesn't struggle or react much. In self defense, a woman hits a man in the head with a phone receiver. Not graphic. A woman thrashes and screams as people hold her down on a bed, believing they intend to take her baby after she delivers it. They shove a rag into her mouth and a man injects her with a sedative and says that she's going into labor. When she awakens, a man tells her that the baby was stillborn. She accuses them of lying, begins trowing a fit and they sedate her again.
profanity 3/10 Only Rosemary's husband habitually but sparingly says "shit, Goddamn, Christ"
alcohol 3/10 The characters drink wine, but not to excess. A character is a recovered drug addict; she is never seen intoxicated or handling drug paraphernalia. The main character's husband serves her chocolate mousse that he knows his neighbor has drugged. The main character's husband smokes habitually throughout. There is a brief mention of marijuana towards the beginning of the film, and later on people are seen smoking at a party. The heroine finds out she has been given specious drugs and nutrients throughout her entire pregnancy. After the heroine gives birth, she her obstetrician keeps her mildly sedated to keep her weak and inactive.
frightening 8/10 Members of a cult drug a women, who is then raped by a demon that is implied as Satan. The scene is eerie and uncomfortable to watch, but it is shot in a surreal and disjointed manner. The last scene in which a coven of Satanists proclaim blasphemy such as "hail Satan" and "God is dead" may easily upset religious viewers. Near the middle, the pregnant heroine becomes increasingly paranoid and fearful for her unborn child's life. Eventually as she's trying to escape, her husband and obstetrician escort her home in a taxi against her will but she doesn't fight them. Again she escapes into an ascending manual elevator which stops between floors. She has to jump down a few feet but lands unharmed but begins having contractions as she continues running. Her husband and doctor and other enemies catch up with her and hold her down as she does into labor. 25/50 BBFC - (18): strong threat, nudity, sexualised horror. Suggested MPAA Rating: R for disturbing thematic material including sexual assault, nudity, a bloody image, and some language
