This culture at the time (the late '80s decade) was unapologetic in its counter culture values of non-conformity (with reference to the mainstream culture/s) and extolled as desirable vulgarity, racism, unrestrained and sometimes public, sex; disrespect, violence and "wildness" in general. The charismatic leader of the gang holds as sacred Hitler's tome "Mein Kampf" and sees as evil even non Anglo-Irish food as corrupting. The movie does not promote these values but depicts them as cause and eventual effect.
