Movie Parental Guide

nudity None
violence The movie is very dark, though not at all bloody. Most of kids under 6 who see this will be scared, but yet there is still no blood or violence, except when the wheelers crumble, non violently, after walking (or wheeling) over the deadly desert.
profanity None
alcohol The Nome King can be seen smoking a pipe at one point.
frightening Dorothy is taken to a specialist who intends to treat her "hallucinations" with shock therapy. All the scenes of Dorothy in this place can be pretty tense and scary. You can hear people screaming from the distance, and Dorothy's room almost looks like a prison cell. There is a somewhat frightening scene where she and another girl escape while it is dark and pouring rain. They are chased down to the river, and they fall in. Princess Mombi is a generally frightening character. She has a museum full of heads in glass cases, and she changes her head whenever she feels like it. She threatens to take Dorothy's head as well. The Wheelers are pretty scary characters, especially when they are chasing Dorothy around the courtyard, revealing their faces behind the masks, and cackling at her. One of them threatens to tear her into little pieces and throw her into the Deadly Desert. There is a Deadly Desert that apparently makes people turn to sand when they touch it. We see a character get turned to sand at one point in the movie. You can see his face and body crumbling. It is revealed at the end of the movie that a minor character died in a fire, although it is not shown on screen. These are just some examples. The entire movie is potentially quite frightening and surreal for children and even some adults.
