Movie Parental Guide

nudity 4/10 There is a scene in which a man spends time with a tribal group, the tribal women's breasts are seen fully. This sequence is not handled in the style of Natural Geographic however, since the main character seems to be sexually involved with her. 1:50-1:56 (1hr 56mns) (mf) A guard tells a man to try and masturbate as little as possible. There is also a homosexual confrontation, a man gropes inside another mans pants.
violence 8/10 Many prisoners drop dead from exhaustion and are carried offscreen by guards and other workers. A prisoner is slashed in the face with a knife and begins screaming loudly. The aftermath of a suicide is shown with blood dripping on the floor. Another prisoner is stabbed in the side in an attempt to kill another prisoner. A condemned prisoner is brought out to the guillotine struggling as he is placed on the board, we see the blade come down and in the next shot his head hits the camera with a splash of blood. An escaping prisoner is shot in the head whilst trying to swim with blood pouring out of his head. A prisoner is hit over the head with a blunt metal object knocking him out. A guard has a pot of boiling water thrown in his face. Several prisoners are beaten by the guards. A man is caught by a booby trap impaling him with sight of bloody spikes sticking out of his body. One man is rifle butted on his foot causing it to break.
profanity 4/10 'for Chr*st's sake'. 1 s-word. 1 B-S phrase. 1 SOB phrase.
alcohol 4/10 Two prisoners briefly eat what may be a type of drug.
frightening 9/10 There is a scene involving a leper colony, the leper's skin condition is rather gruesome and disturbing. Overall the movie has a very unpleasant feeling to it, with characters being starved and locked away in dark cells for months at a time, along with the prison theme. The guillotine scene is very disturbing to watch. Total: 29/50 Suggested MPAA Re-rating: R for Strong violence, Language, and Sexuality
