A grouchy couple are parents to a very sweet girl, Matilda. Unlike her bratty brother and mean parents, Matilda becomes a very sweet and extremely intelligent 6 year old girl, who is very keen to go to school and read books. After a while, her parents send her to school with the worst principal in the world, a very sweet teacher, and good friends. While trying to put up with her parents' and principal's cruelty, she starts to unwittingly unleash telekinetic powers, destroying a television and making a newt fly onto the principal. With enough practice, Matilda starts to learn to control her telekinetic powers and soon using them on her principal so she can drive her away from the school.

nudity 2/10 When Harry ask Matilda what book she's reading, she said it's a book by Moby Dick. Harry asks "Moby what?" Matilda's father refers to two men as "male strippers" and "bodybuilders".
violence 4/10 A girl is thrown by her pigtails; she flies over a spiked fence and lands in a bed of flowers. She is unharmed. A woman throws a boy out of a second story window. He flies back in, unharmed. A woman throws darts at pictures of students on a dartboard on the back of a door. Another woman opens the door just as a dart hits the doorjamb near her face. A woman is frequently shown chasing, threatening, and/or grabbing children. Children throw food at a woman. Miss Honey tells Matilda a story of how this little girl's mother died, and her aunt moved in to help her father raise. But, the aunt was mean and abused the girl. Miss Trunchbull is accused of murdering Miss Honey's father, Magnus at the end of the movie.

frightening 5/10 Some viewers may find the scenes where Miss Trunchbull confronts, terrorizes, and bullies the students frightening and/or intense. Miss Trunchbull locks children in "The Chokey", which resembles coffin and is tall enough to stand in. Nails are sticking out of it and hot steam pours out of it when it is opened. When a child eats two M&M's in class, Miss Trunchbull forces him to spit them out, and then she hrows him out the window. He is injured but survives. When Miss Trunchbull discovers Matilda abs Miss Honey are in her house she goes on a violent rampage using a ball and chain trying to find them. Miss Trunchbull is revealed to be Miss Honey's aunt, and she tells Matilda the story of how she moved in after her mother's death and how her father suddenly died. Total: 15/50.
