Length: 117 Minute(s)
Based on Martin McGartland's real life story as a informant for the British Police to spy on the IRA. Taking place from 1987-1991, Martin (Jim Sturgess) works his way up the ranks of the IRA, while keeping his informant with the police Fergis (Ben Kingsley) at bay. In the process he saved numerous lives and is still in hiding from the IRA today.

Movie Parental Guide

nudity There are some scenes of implicated sexual activity, but nothing too explicit. A man and a woman are obviously having sex on a hotel balcony, partially undressed. Scene lasts less than a minute.
violence There are many scenes of brutal and unsettling violence that included gruesome scenes of torture, graphic gun violence and many brutal fist fights. Most of the violence in the film is very realistic and may be hard to watch for some squeamish viewers. A van blows up, with some injured people shown afterwards. A man in his underwear is tortured, including being hung by a rope, something nailed in his body, and electrical shocks being applied after having water thrown over him (possibly genitalia). A man is shot at close range. A man is shown having his head held underwater. A man throws himself out a window, and we see him falling and landing. A sequence in which numerous people are shot at fairly close range by a machine gun.
profanity Well over 100 F words, about 10 C-words, 58 S-words, and dozens of others.
alcohol Frequent cigarette smoking and alcohol use.
frightening The entire film is very intense from the first minute up until the last. A very realistic film overall, but also very violent, intense.
