Forrest Gump is a simple man with a low I.Q. but good intentions. He is running through childhood with his best and only friend Jenny. His 'mama' teaches him the ways of life and leaves him to choose his destiny. Forrest joins the army for service in Vietnam, finding new friends called Dan and Bubba, he wins medals, creates a famous shrimp fishing fleet, inspires people to jog, starts a ping-pong craze, create the smiley, write bumper stickers and songs, donating to people and meeting the president several times. However, this is all irrelevant to Forrest who can only think of his childhood sweetheart Jenny Curran. Who has messed up her life. Although in the end all he wants to prove is that anyone can love anyone .

nudity There is some suggestive material as well as some nudity and a few sexual references. These scenes are detailed below. A young woman strips down to her underwear in front of a man and asks him if he has "ever been with a woman"; he says no. She then takes off her bra and we see her entire bare back and catch a very quick glimpse of the side of her breast (no nipple) when she places the man's hand on it. The man looks away at first but takes a peek after a few seconds. She then puts her bra back on and he comments that he ruined the robe he was wearing, implying that he ejaculated sperm. A man tosses another man a pornographic magazine and makes a reference to a picture inside it; the second man opens the magazine and we see a quick glimpse of a picture of a topless woman as he turns a page. We then see a picture of another woman with one bare breast showing. The first image is so quick it is easy to miss. The second is somewhat blurry and small and due to the location of the woman's nipple the breast almost looks fake. A strip club scene shows a woman singing and sitting on stage covering the front of her body with a guitar. We get a glimpse of her thonged bottom from behind but only part of it. Then later she walks off the stage and we see her entire thonged bottom and the sides of her breasts (no nipples), but she is walking so quickly in dim lighting that you really don't see much for very long. Her butt is seen. We see a lockerroom scene where a man is covering his crotch with a towel but you can see his pubic hair easily. In later scenes you see various parts of his bandaged bottom after getting a bullet wound. A woman climbs into bed with a man, she removes her top to reveal her bare back, and they kiss passionately. Sex is implied. It is implied that a young girl is being sexually abused by her father. A man, narrating, talks about how the father was always "kissing and touching" her and we see a police officer taking her away to live somewhere else. A man and a woman have implied sex noisily off-screen, while a child listens from outside. The child later mimics the sound the loud heaving sounds the man was making as the man leaves. Other scenes include a woman appearing to have had sex with a man who is shown shirtless in bed sleeping, two women appearing to kiss each other (they do so behind a man's head so the actual kiss is out of view), a woman in her underwear straddling a shirtless man and kissing him, and another woman beginning to kiss a man, but stopping when he pushes her away and stands up.
violence A prolonged scene takes place during the Vietnam War in which fighter planes drop incinerator bombs on a jungle, weapons are fired, and several men are shown being shot at and blown up; lots of gunfire, explosions, and shouting (as well as some blood) is present. The actual fighting isn't graphic, but it's violently intense and results in the death of at least one man and in the dismemberment of another man's legs; we also briefly see a bloody wound on a man's stomach and a man narrating the scene says he was shot in the buttocks (we briefly see the bullet hole on his buttock when he later shows the wound to another man). Men are later seen in a hospital, where we see men on gurneys hooked up to medical equipment and in various stages of injury, some with missing limbs; one man is briefly shown with half his face covered with a blood-stained cloth. A woman implies she is considering suicide by getting up on a ledge on the side of a bridge, leaning over the railing, and asking if God would allow her to fly off the bridge. A man asks with concern what she means and the woman gets off the ledge. However, she seems to strongly contemplate suicide again later in the film in a scene where she stands at the top of a building, clearly high on drugs, and her foot slips, though she is able to recuperate and decides not to jump. There's the insinuation of sexual child abuse: a young girl is said to have been "kissed and touched" by her father, who in one scene is shown chasing after his daughter when she runs through a cornfield to get away from him (we are not told whether he caught up with her or not, but we do learn that the girl was taken by the police to live elsewhere). Bullies insult, throw rocks at, and chase another boy (one rock hits him in the head and we see a little bit of blood). Later, the boy is shown older and he is again chased by bullies in a car. He manages to escape from the bullies both times, unharmed the second time. An African American man shouts at a white man that the goal of white people is to rape and kill African Americans and destroy their communities (this is brief, but it has strong racist overtones and may be upsetting); another racially tense scene includes a brief depiction of the 1963 "Stand in the Schoolhouse Door" incident (we hear a couple of racial slurs uttered). Some other more violent historical events are also shown, including newsreels of George Wallace getting shot (we see some blood) and assassination attempts on Gerald Ford and Ronald Reagan. The assassinations of John F. Kennedy, Bobby Kennedy, and John Lennon are also referenced, but not shown. Several fistfights occur throughout the movie that result in bloody noses, black eyes, and other minor injuries. One such fight ensues from a man's violent reaction to a woman getting slapped across the face and knocked to the ground. People make mocking references to a man's low intelligence throughout the film and he is made fun of for it several times, often behind his back or without him fully understanding what they're talking about. A woman calls a man "stupid" and another man shouts at her to not call him that and throws her onto a bed (not too violently).
profanity Mild use of profanity, concentrated in a few scenes. 2 uses of "fucking" (non-sexual context) 10 uses of the word "shit", one of which is in writing. Around 30 uses of religious profanity, including "goddamn". Around 5 uses of sexual terms, mostly in reference to breasts, including "tits". 1 use of each of "coon" and "nigger".
alcohol A woman is shown snorting cocaine (we don't actually see the cocaine, but we see her hair covering it and her just about to snort it.) It is later implied that she had just injected herself with heroin. Cigarettes are shown in an ashtray in a hotel room. One man says a woman who was kissing him tasted "like cigarettes." Bongs, ashtrays, bottles of pills, needles, and other drug paraphernalia are shown a couple times (we never see them being used, however). A man smokes cigarettes and drinks alcohol in several scenes. We see empty bottles of alcohol littered around his apartment. We briefly see a bottle of alcohol in a man's hand as he runs out of a house.
frightening A very emotional film. Most of the drug use, sexual material, and other such content in this movie is more implied than actually shown. A war scene in Vietnam is quite violent and has gunfire, explosions, and shouting. Some bloody wounds are shown and at least one man is killed. Soldiers are later seen seriously injured, and some with missing limbs and bandaged in a hospital. A man's legs are amputated (off screen) as a result of what happened in the aforementioned Vietnam War sequence and he is for some time depicted as being bitter and depressed and as having turned to alcohol to deal with his loss. A woman stands at a bridge railing and considers jumping to her death. Later the same woman, now high on drugs, is standing at the top of a high building, considering the same thing. The camera shows the road below her, and her foot slips. She ultimately is able to resurface herself back onto the building, and does not jump. A woman dies of an unnamed disease that is implied to be AIDS. Her husband is shown standing at her grave crying. A woman dies of cancer. MPAA/USA - Rated PG-13 for drug content, some sensuality and war violence. BBFC/UK - Rated 12A (implied drug use, moderate sex, infrequent strong language).
