Fifty seven years after Ellen Ripley survived her disastrous ordeal, her escape vessel is recovered after drifting across the galaxy as she slept in cryogenic stasis. Back on earth, nobody believed her story about the "Aliens" on the planet LV-426. After the "Company" orders the colony on LV-426 to investigate, however, all communication with the colony is lost. The Company enlists Ripley to aid a team of tough, rugged space marines on a rescue mission to the now partially terraformed planet to find out if there are aliens or survivors. As the mission unfolds, Ripley will be forced to come to grips with her worst nightmare, but even as she does, she finds that the worst is yet to come.

nudity When the team starts waking up, they are all in their underwear, no nudity visible at all other than men are not wearing shirts. One scene shows Ripley wearing just a t-shirt (no bra) and pants. There are two pictures of nude women in the lockers of the squad. The first one is 25 minutes into the movie just after Ripley finishes a skype convo (ship is shown in space and then it cuts to inside and a locker door is flapping open with a poster that shows a woman's breasts, though it is hard to see due to the angle and lasts about 3 seconds) ....... The second one is 38 minutes in and shows the backside of a woman sitting nude in a chair with the top half of her bare butt visible and is in black and white (it's behind a man's leg while he is strapping on a shin guard after he puts his leg down and is shown very clearly for about 3 seconds)
violence An alien attacks a woman off-screen, but you see blood splattering on the windows of the cockpit she was in. Dead corpses are seen wrapped in cocoons; a chestburster alien rips through a living woman's chest. Some blood pours out, although not as much as the chestburster from the first movie. A woman has a dream that an alien bursts out of her; the alien can be seen under her skin just before she wakes up. Several times, people are killed both on and off-screen with minimal blood and cheesy effects. A Marine character is seized by an alien and in a panic, discharges her flamethrower, setting her comrade alight. In a blind panic, he accidentally falls over a railing a plummets to his death. In the process, he drops his flaming bag of ammunition, which explodes and throws 2 other Marine characters. 1 of them is hurled into a wall and snaps his neck. A Marine character shoots an alien in the head. Two Marine characters are cornered by the aliens and opt to take them out in a manner that results in their own deaths. The two of them cling together, clutching a hand grenade in their hands, and detonate it. A woman uncovers a nest of the alien's eggs and the "queen" alien, who is presently laying more eggs. She destroys many of the eggs with a flamethrower, and a intense chase scene ensues. A human-looking android is impaled and torn in half. There is white synthetic blood spraying in all directions, and his insides (a type of intestines) are visible in the subsequent scenes. Although he is a robot, his insides look quite human and the audience has an emotional connection to this character by this time and may find this additionally disturbing.
profanity 24 uses of the f-word (27 in special-edition). Around 15 uses of the s-word. Several uses of "ass," "damn," "hell," "asshole," "bastard," "bitch," "son of a bitch" and "crap." Religious exclamations/profanities include at least 19 uses of "G--damn," 6 of "Oh, God," 3 of "Jesus," 2 of "Christ," and 1 use each of "Jesus Christ," "God" and "Oh, my God."
alcohol There are a few scenes with smoking. The main character Ripley smokes in a few scenes as does Hicks. Apone smokes cigars frequently.
frightening Moderate horror, however there is more action than that. Though special and visual effects tend to get outdated in a decade or so and become unrealistic, this film's special effects are done so well they still look somewhat scary by today's standards. Children growing up seeing only CGI monsters now may be frightened by the aliens "really" being present in front of the camera. Several Marines are in danger of extremely scary and vicious alien creatures. The film is more action-oriented than the extremely suspenseful and frightening first film (Alien) but the combat element may make things more frightening for some viewers. There is one intense scene where Ripley and the girl are both in mortal danger of being "impregnated" by a crab-like creature that crawls around in an empty laboratory while they sleep. Towards the end, the child's life becomes in jeopardy frequently until the climax. BBFC - (15): strong violence, horror, strong language.
